7 of the best natural products to help you through menopause

Can I share a secret? I absolutely love working 1-2-1 with clients going through menopause, supporting with online consultations and bespoke programmes of homeopathic menopause remedies, botanical remedies and vibrational essences. It’s so rewarding to help guide women towards a new and exciting self-nurturing relationship with their older selves. Helpfully, during 20 years of providing holistic help with menopausal problems, I’ve discovered a few excellent self-help products to ease things. Think of this as a gift guide for yourself, for your menopause - or even as suggestions for a friend’s menopause journey.

Women often view menopause with dread, not surprisingly. Female maturity and wisdom are often not appreciated in the Western world, even today, and, let’s face it, who wouldn’t feel for anyone struggling with hot flushes, anxiety, night-time sweats, vaginal dryness, weight issues, insomnia, irritability, nausea, tearfulness, and the other catalogue of woes menopause can bring.

I’ll blog separately about the 6-step approach I use when working 1-2-1 with a menopausal client, sharing the favourite homeopathic remedies, homeobotanicals and Australian Bush flower essences I use to craft each woman’s individual holistic menopause support, but in the meantime, these gorgeous products might just help you feel more you, as you step into this new expression of your womanhood.

Help yourself, with the 7 best natural menopause products

Sweet Sleep Magnesium Butter from Sweet Bee Organics - if your menopause is troubled by sleep issues, especially night-time restlessness or restless leg syndrome, a grape-sized amount of this gorgeous and natural magnesium butter rubbed into the soles of your feet at bedtime delivers 360mg of magnesium, and could help you drift off for a more peaceful and refreshing night’s sleep.

The Feel Good Bundle from TeaPigs - ditch the caffeine, and try these six gorgeous and unusual herb teas to calm you, give you energy, support the metabolism, uplift you and more. I’m slightly addicted to Happy tea - yummy, and a beautiful colour.

Woman Bush Flower Essence from The Natural Dispensary - containing vibrational flower essences of Mulla Mulla (energetic support for feelings of excess heat) and She Oak (support for women at times of hormonal change), this blend has been in my toolkit for struggling menopausal clients ever since Australian Bush Essences founder and naturopath Ian White personally trained me in his beautiful range of flower essences 20 years ago. Use code ‘Phoenix Eastbourne’ when you register as a customer and order, for 10% off.

Menopause Multinutrient by BioCare, from The Natural Dispensary - a great diet is always best, but many women at menopause also benefit from this advanced high potency multinutrient, specially devised for women during and after the menopause. As above, code ‘Phoenix Eastbourne’ gets you 10% off.

Yes WB water based personal lubricant from Yes - rapidly relieving dryness and discomfort, this condom and toy compatible, gynaecologist approved lubricant has no smell, no taste and no stickiness, feels like the real thing, is pH balanced and can help support healing if necessary. Recommended.

Menopause Serenity by Pukka Herbs, from The Natural Dispensary - elegantly-formulated capsules with organic shatavri root and sage, ashwagandha, spirulina, turmeric, aloe vera, ginger, vitamin D2 from mushrooms, and seaweed to support your menopause. Vegan and vegetarian.

And finally (though it’s not a natural product - I cheated there) if hormones or disturbed sleep are are turning your once razor-sharp brain to mush, and you’re starting to worry you now have the organisational skills of a banana, getting to grips with a digital organisation system like Trello from Atlassian can really help you keep track of the gazillion things you’re juggling. (Don’t think I don’t see you there, exhausted from endlessly spinning all the plates, and wondering when things will get simpler. I’ll give you a hint - when you find a way to sometimes put your needs first, that’s when. Which I might be able to help with.)

Important: always tell your conventionally-trained doctor about your menopause symptoms, because complementary remedies should be just that - complementary, not alternative. The self-help products mentioned here are some of my own personal favourites - I haven’t been paid for mentioning them, though items ordered from The Natural Dispensary using my discount code ‘Phoenix Eastbourne’ give us both 10% - you get that as a discount on your whole order, and I get the same as commission. And so you know - I never recommend anything unless I genuinely think it’s great. Nope. Not going to happen.
